Today, the forest is interrupted by agricultural land or abandoned pastures; this has led to &#8220;forest islands&#8221; experiencing species impoverishment. Since 2016, the Tropical Station has been solely responsible for the COBIGA project. Donations to the Rainforest of the Austrians association are forwarded to the Tropical Station for this specific purpose.
