New Camera Traps for Rainforest Protection

The rangers of Piedras Blancas National Park receive four new camera traps

Camera traps, also known as trail cameras, have become an indispensable tool in modern nature conservation. These small but highly modern devices capture images of animals we would otherwise rarely see – from shy tapirs roaming through the forest, to majestic big cats, and many other rainforest inhabitants. Each recording tells a story from the “Rainforest of the Austrians” and gives us valuable insights into the lives of endangered species.

For the park rangers, camera traps are an important tool. They help monitor animal populations, understand behaviors, and make the success of nature conservation visible. This makes it clear: every protected area is not just a piece of untouched nature, but a living, valuable habitat full of secrets.

Thanks to this technology, park rangers can make their daily work for Costa Rica’s biodiversity even more effective. And we can all rejoice when the rainforest reveals its fascinating faces – image by image, moment by moment. 🌎💚 This is how recordings like the video shown here are created.

The cameras must be secured and protected against theft
