Conducting research in the Biological Corridor
Science for the future
Have you always dreamed of exploring the fascinating world of the rainforest? The La Gamba Tropical Station, a research and educational facility of the University of Vienna in Costa Rica, opens the doors to one of the most biodiverse lowland rainforests in Central America.
The variety of research opportunities is impressive. In the immediate vicinity, you will find various lowland rainforests with different landscape features as well as ecosystems influenced by human activity. Here, questions about biodiversity and the functioning of entire ecosystems are explored, as well as the interactions between plants and animals or unusual reproductive systems. Above all, our reforestation areas offer the opportunity for studies on restoration processes. The scientific findings gained are, in turn, incorporated into future reforestation efforts.
